Shannon Airport is one of three major airports in Ireland. Located in Co. Clare on Ireland’s west coast, the airport serves over 1.75 million passengers per year. With just one terminal, the airport is easily navigated offering modern shops, restaurants and bars.
In order to keep up with the modern trends of airport hospitality, Fineline Design were approached to develop a contemporary design concept for the historic Sheridan Bar and Restaurant, located in the departures lounge of Shannon Airport.
The Sheridan Bar and Restaurant is named after Joe Sheridan who created the world famous Irish coffee in 1943 at Shannon Airport. Exclusive to departing passengers, this famous bar offers an environment where passengers can easily relax and have a drink or enjoy fine food from the traditional bar menu. The Sheridan Bar and Restaurant is one of the few places in the world that offers the original recipe of the Irish coffee.
In order to reflect the history of this departure lounge it was important that a predominant Irish culture was still felt within its new contemporary design. Fineline Design used our Nerissa pendant lights in antique brass to provide a warm and friendly welcome in the revitalised bar. Our Nerissa pendants are rated IP65 so are safe to install in areas where moisture resistance may be a concern. Suspended above the sleek countertop bar, the vintage-industrial style pendants beautifully accent their installed environment with an antique brass finish that complements the brass bar taps below.
Fineline design applied a universal design throughout Sheridan’s Bar, accommodating the needs of travellers with luggage. The overall design feature inherits Irish characteristics whilst offering a timeless interior, perfect for airport hospitality.
