The Mill in Mullan Village

Mullan Lighting has been based in a former mill in Mullan Village, Co. Monaghan, since 2009. What began in a small section of the derelict building has gradually grown across the site as the business has developed. Over the years, we have restored and extended the mill to create more space for design, production, finishing and assembly. Our most recent extension doubled the size of the factory, giving us more room to make lighting in Mullan Village and support larger projects. Further expansion is planned as the business continues to grow.

How It Started

Mullan Lighting was founded by architect Mike Treanor in 2009. After identifying a need for well-made decorative lighting with greater scope for customisation, he began developing and producing lights from the old mill in Mullan Village. The business started on a small scale, with design and production closely connected from the outset. That approach still shapes how we work today, with new ideas developed alongside the people who make, finish and assemble the lights.

How It's Going

Since those early years, Mullan Lighting has grown from a small workshop into a lighting manufacturer supplying projects in Ireland and internationally. The factory in Mullan Village remains central to the business. Brass, glass and ceramic components are finished, assembled and checked by hand here, while the wider team works across design, production and project support. As the company has grown, the focus has stayed on making lighting with a strong sense of proportion, material and practical use.

What We Do

We design and manufacture decorative lighting in Mullan Village, with a collection that includes pendant lights, wall lights, chandeliers and other fittings for residential, hospitality and commercial interiors. Many designs are made using brass, glass and ceramic, with a broad choice of finishes and colours available across the range.

We also provide a bespoke lighting service for projects that need something outside the standard collection. Depending on the brief, this can include changes to colour or finish, adaptations to an existing design, or the development of a completely new light. Our design and production teams work closely together throughout the process so that practical details can be resolved alongside the look and scale of the fitting.
