Shining Light Throughout the Historic Hillsborough Castle
Kinnersley Kent Design reimagined two key spaces on the historic grounds of Hillsborough Castle in County Down, Northern Ireland.
Home to the Secretary of State in Northern Ireland, this Georgian estate recently underwent an extensive refurbishment, restoring the mansion house and gardens back to their original beauty.
Talented design group, Kinnersley Kent Design, were tasked with rejuvenating the interiors of the Lower Courtyard Visitor Centre and the Stable Yard.

Key to the success of this impressive project was the inclusion of quality materials and a high level of craftsmanship to help complement the age and heritage of this centuries-old castle estate.
The project involved incorporating a blend of multi-functional creative spaces that could be rearranged to suit various events and occasions. The highly professional team at Kinnersley Kent Design conducted thorough research including feasibility studies and customer journey mapping to aid their design.
The Lower Courtyard consists of an indoor dining café area, retail store and welcome reception. The design concept for this space was to showcase original features and blend them with contemporary textiles and warm hues.

The inviting dining hall displays a collection of our Eden glass globe pendant lights that can be seen scattered at alternating heights throughout the space.
The exposed brick wall resonates with the traditional walled garden that can be seen in the estate gardens and adds a sense of reflection and charm to the dining interior.
The Stable Yard was beautifully converted into a tea room, shop and learning centre. Displaying a more elegant interior style compared to the Courtyard, the Stable Yard boasts a blue-toned colour palette, tying in with the fashioned ‘Hillsborough Blue’ navy hues.
Dressing the wall décor of the sophisticated café is our Eden glass wall lights that are completed with a stunning curved polished brass arm.
The store area of the Stable Yard features a collection of stunning jewellery and clothing pieces. Kinnersley Kent Design opted for a lighter shade of blue in this area and incorporated bespoke shelving and storage units.
Our Laguna glass globe pendant lights blend attractively with the brass gold trimmings of the counter tops and are carried through into the exquisite tea rooms.
